The government has paid a lot of attention in its work to the social sphere. With a particular care, all the necessary measures are taken in relation to the Children's Specialized Hospital Okhmatdyt, the Information-Analytical Bulletin of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine informs.
Every child treated at Okhmatdyt today is provided with the necessary healthcare products and receives assistance in full. Yuri Gladush, Head Physician of the National Children's Specialized Hospital Okhmatdyt, says the hospital is provided with medicines through centralized government procurement from the state budget; through purchases made by the hospital; and through charitable receipts.
According to Yuri Gladush, there is a clear trend to increase the state funding in treatment of children with oncology and other serious illnesses. Funds committed to the clinic from the state budget for independent purchase of medications have increased significantly — from 17 million UAH in 2010 to 59 million UAH in 2013.
“The total cost of drugs purchased by the hospital, which are now in its warehouses, is about 17 million UAH. Also, at the disposal of Okhmatdyt are the medications purchased by the Ministry of Health of Ukraine through centralized procurement in the amount of 70 million UAH,” Gladush said, noting that these medical products will be enough to give the required treatment for the small patients of the hospital during several months.
This year the government plans to increase funding for treatment of children with cancer.
