Kozhara concerned about comments of foreign politicians on Rada’s work

Ukrainian foreign minister Leonid Kozhara expressed concern of Ukrainian party with regard to the comments of individual officials of foreign states and international organizations on the work of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. Official Kyiv considers it as interference in the internal affairs of Ukraine. This was stated today during a meeting with the first deputy speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Igor Kaletnyk, U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Geoffrey Pyatt and head of the EU Delegation to Ukraine Jan Tombinski, press service of the Foreign Ministry informs.

Kozhara urged foreign diplomats to be objective and balanced in assessments of internal processes in our country, and avoid unilateral declarations, which do not reflect the real situation.

In this context, the Ukrainian party paid special attention to violations of the law by the opposition forces, in particular, blocking administrative buildings and obstructing the work of the supreme legislative body of Ukraine.

Kozhara noted that the laws, adopted by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on January 16, are aimed at the implementation of Ukrainian legislation in a number of standards that already exist in the laws of the most European countries and comply with internationally accepted democratic standards and international practices.

In turn, Kaletnyk informed ambassadors about the content of the laws adopted on the last day of the third session of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine of VII convocation.

He also explained in detail the procedure for the adoption of legislation, emphasizing that the vote passed in accordance with applicable law, in particular Art. 37 of the Law of Ukraine "On Regulations of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine".

First deputy speaker of the Verkhovna Rada noted that the leadership of Parliament strongly defended the need to discuss the draft budget.

During the meeting it was confirmed the readiness of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to continue to work for the adoption of legislation aimed at ensuring the immediate needs of the state and its support for the European integration course.
