Ukrainian government has announced plans to sign an Association Agreement with the European Union this year. It is working hard to draft the Association Agreement, taking into account all the economic parameters, the Information-Analytical Bulletin of the cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine informs.

Currently the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine is in process of agreeing trading positions with the EU. This was announced First Deputy Prime Minister Serhiy Arbuzov, who said the government has been doing everything possible to ensure that the Agreement is signed in 2014.

Prime Minister Mykola Azarov earlier said that the funds received from the sale of Ukrainian Eurobonds to Russia will be used to modernize the Ukrainian economy and bring it closer to European standards. The strategy to reinforce practical provisions of the draft agreement, based on in-depth sectoral analysis of the consequences for the Ukrainian economy of the creation of a free trade zone with the EU, will be implemented within the framework of the EU consultation. The fact that such consultations will continue in the near future, was confirmed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine. Agreement to hold such consultations was reached during Arbuzov’s visit to Brussels, Belgium.

As Yevhen Perebiynis, Director of Information Policy Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine noted at the briefing, European integration remains a strategic priority of Ukraine and has no alternative, as all the reforms held in the state are linked to it.

"That's why we look to sign the Agreement as soon as possible, as soon as both parties are ready. When exactly the Agreement will be signed… I think the next few months should show, when consultations will be held and the parties will be able to discuss their positions during  negotiations," Perebiynis said.
