The government continues its work on development of tourism. Ministry of Resorts and Tourism of Crimea, along with local executive bodies and local government, is working on certification of tourist facilities at the peninsula, the Information-Analytical Bulletin of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine informs.

In early 2014, certificates were issued to 602 facilities. According to Department of Recreational Resources of Crimean Resort Administration, as of January 1, 2014, 602 certified tourist facilities included 238 facilities for guests of the peninsula, 176 catering facilities, 45 museums, 43 cultural heritage sites, 38 natural sites, and 16 sacral monuments.

Also, the majority of tourist facilities were certified in Yalta – 120, Theodosia – 98, Eupatoria – 60, and Alushta – 59. Meanwhile, according to Department of Recreational Resources, the highest percentage of certified accommodation facilities is observed in Saki – 87% and in Chernomorsky region – 57%.

Some 39,000 persons spent New Year and Christmas holidays (January 1 to 9, 2014) in Crimea, which is 13.5% YOY. According to the Ministry of Resorts and Tourism of Crimea, on Christmas holidays (December 28, 2013 to January 7, 2014), Crimea was visited by 68,000 people. For example, during the same period of 2009-2010, this figure was at the level of 44,00.

In general, 5.903 million persons have vacationed at the peninsula last year.
