Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych congratulated his compatriots on Christmas.
"I sincerely congratulate you on the great holiday – Christmas! On this day, Savior has come and commanded us brotherly kindness and harmony," the Head of State noted.
Today our large family – Ukrainian people – asks God to strengthen us in faith and unity to build a happy and prosperous country.
The President reminded that last year Ukraine celebrated the 1025th anniversary of Christianization of Kievan Rus’. Christianization has contributed to the spiritual development of Ukrainian people. It has become a basis for the formation of our unity and statehood.
On Christmas Day, the Ukrainian President urged everyone to overcome contradictions and look for the way to peace and love jointly. "As the Savior has commanded us," he said.
Yanukovych wished every Ukrainian family happiness, joy and prosperity. "I ask the blessings of the Almighty for Ukraine. Christ is Born! Give Glory!" he said.
