The Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine predicts growth of production in the livestock industry in 2014. In particular, the production of meat will total 2.47 million tons, which is up 3.35% against the current year expectations (2.39 million tons). Milk and milk products (in milk equivalent) will total 11.686 million tons, which is almost 1.1% increase compared with the 2013 expectations (11.56 million tons), the Information-Analytical Bulletin of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine informs.

According to the Ministry budget, next year beef production will remain the same year-on-year - 0.4 million tons, pork production will grow by 2.7%, to 0.77 million tons, poultry meat production will grow by 5.4%, to 1.26 million tons.

AIC experts note that the positive trends in the livestock industry have been maintained since 2012, when for the first time since independence Ukraine reached positive indicators in production. In 2012 Ukraine increased production of all kinds of animal products, including milk - by 2.7%, to 11.7 million tons, meat - by 3.4 % to 3.14 million tons, eggs - by 2.3% to 19.12 billion each.

This year the trend has continued. According to the State Statistics Service, from January to November 2013, meat production in Ukraine grew by 8.1% year-on-year, to 2.94 million tons (live weight). Milk production grew to 10.78 million tons, which is up 0.9% year-on-year. Eggs production during this period grew by 2.4%, to 18.11 billion each.

Government managed to bring the industry out of the protracted crisis through government programs and investment. Farmers received comprehensive help, subsidies were paid for young cattle, for their delivery for processing. Purchase of milking machines was also compensated.
