Today the Cabinet has passed a resolution to sign the Agreement between the Governments of Ukraine and the Slovak Republic on mutual academic recognition and equivalence of qualifications issued in Ukraine and the Slovak Republic, the Information-Analytical Bulletin of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine informs.

Signing the agreement will help expand cooperation between Ukraine and Slovakia in the field of education. The document represents mutual interests of both sides to deepen traditional ties and to develop new forms of cooperation, exchanges and contacts in education, as well as to establish rules for mutual recognition of qualifications and academic degrees.

Experts say the signing of the agreement will create conditions for citizens of both countries to access educational resources in both Ukraine and Slovakia, to contribute to their academic mobility, to open new opportunities for employment. So, the diplomas of secondary, secondary special, University education and scientific degree "PhD” received in Ukraine will be recognized in Slovakia as equivalent, and vice versa.

The signing of the agreements will have a positive effect on the prestige of Ukrainian education in Europe, experts say. Diplomas of the Slovak universities are based on the EU regulations, and thus are equally highly prized in Europe, and beyond.

At the same time the domestic education looks to the most advanced international standards. Currently Ukraine has signed 22 bilateral agreements on mutual recognition and equivalence of certificates and degrees. Ukraine is among the 44 countries members of the Lisbon Convention on the Recognition of Qualifications concerning Higher Education in the European Region.
