The European Union has always advocated the maintenance of traditional trade and other relations between Ukraine and Russia, EU Commissioner for Enlargement and Neighborhood Policy Stefan Füle said.

"In other words, if the talks in Moscow have resulted in the normalization of trade relations between Ukraine and Russia on favorable conditions for both sides, and if these agreements are consistent with obligations signed by the Ukrainians when initialing the Association Agreement with the EU, we can only welcome such a development".

He noted that he is still to familiarize with Ukrainian-Russian arrangements, made during visit of Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych to Moscow. However, he said that "the Association Agreement does not make Kyiv choose: Moscow or Brussels".

Participating in the press conference foreign minister of EU-chairing Lithuania Linas Linkevičius added to the speech of European Commissioner that he had been informed that none of the 14 agreements signed in Moscow contradicted Ukraine's plans for rapprochement with the EU.
