The government is making every effort to maintain a stable operation of the energy sector. According to the Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry, as of November 2013, Ukrainian coal mining enterprises produced 2.2 million tons of coal with the plan of 2.1 million tons, the Information-Analytical Bulletin of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine informs.

This result is 69.9 tons ahead of last year's figures for the appropriate period. Ministry of Energy and Mines enterprises have increased coal output by 3.2% year-on-year. At the same time, for example, from 1 to 2 December 2013, coal mining enterprises tons produced 126,100 tons with the plan of 126,000. The Ministry notes that the industry is currently operating in a normal mode.

Eduard Stavitskiy, Minister of Energy and Coal Industry, noted that preparations of the country's energy system for the autumn-winter heating season 2013/2014 went according to plan and is now almost completed, as evidenced by the completion of the necessary scope of repair and renovation works, as well as creating the necessary fuel reserves.

It is also important to note that, as reported by the Ministry, from January to October 2013, Ukraine cut gas imports, by 15.9%, to 23.35 billion cubic meters year-on-year. And according to the Ministry of Revenue and Duties, the volume of gas imports in monetary terms amounted to 9.536 billion USD for the specified period. The Cabinet approved a forecast natural gas receipt and distribution balance in the amount of 27.3 billion cubic meters for 2013.
