President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych took part in the morning session of the summit of "Eastern Partnership", in which the EU and Ukraine did not sign the Association Agreement and did not yet announce any declarations, ForUm correspondent reports from Vilnius.
The morning session opened with initialing of the EU-Georgia and the EU-Moldova association agreements. EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton signed the documents on part of the EU, foreign minister Maya Panjikidze –on part of Georgia, Prime Minister Iurie Leancă – on part of Moldova.
"A step, made in Vilnius, will make our country closer to full membership in the EU. This is a clear way forward in our relationship, which, without doubt, one day will lead my country to the EU," Leancă said.
President of the European Council Herman Van Rompuy congratulated the countries on progress in European integration. In addition, Azerbaijan signed the visa facilitation agreement with the EU.
