Ukraine made every effort on the way to signing the EU Association Agreement and initiated reforms in the key sectors of the economy, the Information-Analytical Bulletin of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine informs.

This was stated by Serhiy Arbuzov, First Deputy Prime Minister, speaking at a business forum of the Eastern Partnership "Business without Borders," which took place in Vilnius on Thursday.

Evaluating the role of Russia in Ukraine's European Integration efforts, Arbuzov said that our country had to take into account the views of all its partners, especially in light of the national economy and trade and economic relations.

In addition, he explained the reasons for the recent decision of the government in relation to the EU Association Agreement: "Today we understand that we failed to solve a significant share of the risks that we had anticipated. However, we continue to work, we are ready to meet, we are ready to continue to assess risks, to seek solutions that would balance the socio-economic situation of our country."

In turn, Stefan Fule, European Commissioner for Enlargement and Neighbourhood Policy believes that Ukraine's decision to suspend the process of signing of the EU Association Agreement and Free Trade Zone was influenced by politics in Russia.

The EU "on its part, remains open" for further negotiations to deepen partnership with Ukraine and for signing formal agreements, he said.
