The European Union will continue negotiations on integration with Ukraine and is ready to discuss trade and economic cooperation with Russia, Maja Kocijancic, spokesperson for EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission Catherine Ashton, declared.

According to her, the European Commission "noted" the initiative concerning possible tripartite negotiations in Brussels, Moscow and Kyiv on economic partnership.

"This is a bilateral agreement between the EU and Ukraine. You (journalists. - Ed.) also know that Russia is a strategic partner with whom we consult regularly and is an important trading partner for us. We will continue to consult with them on a number of issues. That's all I can say on this matter," Kocijancic said reporters, when was asked to comment on the proposal to hold trilateral talks in Kyiv.
