The European Union will welcome the participation of Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych in the upcoming Eastern Partnership Summit in Vilnius on November 28-29, the spokesperson for EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission Catherine Ashton, Maja Kocijancic said, Interfax-Ukraine reports.
"We will welcome the participation of the president of Ukraine. We expect that Ukraine will take part in the summit in Vilnius," she said at a press briefing in Brussels on Friday, when asked to comment on the Ukrainian government's decision to suspend its preparations for the signing of the association agreement with the EU.
