On October 24-25, 2013, President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych will make a working visit to the Republic of Belarus. In the framework of the visit, the President will take part in regular meeting of the CIS Council of the Heads of State as well as in the meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council at the level of the Heads of State, advisor to the President – head of the Presidential Administration Main Office for International Affairs Andriy Honcharuk stated.
The agenda of the meeting of the CIS Council of the Heads of State includes issues on the key directions of development of the Commonwealth and enhancement of multilateral cooperation.
Particularly, it is planned to approve the decision on declaring 2015 the Year of the Veterans of the Great Patriotic War 1941-1945 in the CIS. The year 2014 will be declared the Year of Tourism. Also, the decision on the implementation of a series of interstate programs aimed at the struggle against crime will be approved.
"The meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council at the level of the Heads of State that will be held on October 24 will become a great opportunity for Ukrainian party to exchange opinions on the conditions and prospects of developing enhanced interaction of our country with the Eurasian Economic Commission initiated in May 2013 and to consider directions of mutually beneficial cooperation in conditions of the expected establishment of free trade area between Ukraine and the EU," he said.
Moreover, in the course of the visit to Belarus, the Head of State plans to hold a series of meetings with his colleagues in order to discuss topical issues of bilateral interaction.
