Ukraine's accession to the Free Trade Area with the EU, though poses risks to the economy of Ukraine, is beneficial to our state, Prime Minister Mykola Azarov told a roundtable on European Integration, ForUm correspondent reports.

"A deep and comprehensive free trade area will create a unique opportunity to accelerate the modernization of the Ukrainian economy, improve its investment attractiveness, enhance the competitiveness of domestic producers, not only in the European market, but also in the third countries," the Prime Minister emphasized.

Azarov urged to take advantage of these opportunities. "Are there risks in this way? Of course, there are. We know them. And no one is saying that changes, primarily economic ones, will be simple," he said.

PM stressed said that Ukraine, joining FTA with the EU, sets itself the ambitious tasks. In particular, implementation of the norms and standards will require a lot of work and significant investment. "This should be our main task for the next years," the head of the government said.
