Ukraine and Belarus plan to install the first border marker in November as part of the demarcation of the Ukrainian-Belarusian border, director of the press service of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry Yevnen Perebynis said in response to a query from Interfax-Ukraine.

"The demarcation activities on the Ukrainian-Belarusian border are scheduled to begin on October 1 of this year with determining the location for placing the first border marker, the grand opening will be held this November," the response said.

The Foreign Ministry’s spokesman found it difficult to predict the timeframes of the demarcation.
"It is still hard to predict the duration of the demarcation work on the state border of Ukraine and the Republic of Belarus, the length of which is 1,084.2 kilometers," the response reads.

When asked about the funding of the demarcation, the Foreign Ministry said that in the view of the completion of the financing of the state program on equipment and reconstruction of the state border until 2015, the Foreign Ministry asked the government to develop and adopt a new document on the formalization of the state border of Ukraine for the period until 2018.
