Inspector of the State Border Service of Ukraine Mykola Usok, injured in explosion at the Ukrainian-Russian border, underwent nearly three-hour surgery and now is in grievous condition, chief doctor of the Hlukhiv central district hospital Volodymyr Lyutov told ForUm correspondent.

"The victim is in grievous condition. The operation lasted about 3 hours. He was put the brachial artery vascular prosthesis," the doctor said.

In addition, according to the chief doctor, the border guard has penetrating eye injury. According to preliminary estimates, the eye will be kept. 

However, the physician does not exclude the sight loss of 15-20%.

Lyutov also noted that the patient has lost about 2.5 liters of blood.

Physicians assess the health status of the second border guard Ruslan Bozhko as moderate.

"The second victim has slight injuries of hands, torso, abdomen. His condition is moderate," Lyutov summed up.
