On Friday, October 4, at the international border crossing checkpoint "Bachevsk" of Sumy region, frontier violator blew himself and two guards up. 

"At 00.15, a Mercedes minibus with Moldovan registration with four passengers, Moldovan citizens, inside arrived from Russia at the checkpoint "Bachevsk" to enter Ukraine. On examination of the vehicle, there was found another man, hiding in the cabin," statement of the State Border Service of Ukraine reads. 

In the course of further inspection, the detainee showed Russian passport to border guards. It was later determined that the document did not belong to him.

"At 00.44, during the interview, the arrested citizen blew himself up with an unknown explosive device. He died immediately. Two border guards were injured," the report says.

The press service noted that the wounded officers were delivered to the district hospital in Glukhiv. 

A joint investigative team of the Prosecutor's Office, the Interior Ministry, the Security Service and the State Border Service works at the scene.
