The number of Internet users in Ukraine has tripled, head of the National Commission for the State Regulation of Communications and Informatization Petro Yatsuk told journalists, ForUm correspondent reports.
In addition, there is an increase in the number of operators and Internet service providers.
Yatsuk stressed that if before the Internet was means of information and entertainment, today it is a tool of earnings. "The volume of sales of goods over the Internet for the period from the second half of 2012 to the first half of 2013 grew by 67%," he said.
According to the National Commission, 95% of domestic enterprises have access to the Internet. Level of Internet access of medical institutions increased by 14%, schools – by 10% (in general 74% of Ukrainian schools have Internet access).
Yatsuk focused on the fact that in 2013 the percentage of online advertising has grown by 35%.
Meanwhile, the expert said that the coverage level and the number of Internet users in Ukraine vary. Zhytomyr, Kirovohrad, Luhansk, Chernivtsi and Zakarpattia regions show the worst rates. There, coverage level is only 4-5 connections per 100 inhabitants.
