Ukraine will be able to produce 25-30 billion cubic meters of gas more on its own territory in the medium term, energy and coal industry minister of Ukraine Eduard Stavytsky told a briefing at the Cabinet of Ministers, ForUm correspondent reports.
"Agreements with Shell, Chevron on hydrocarbon production, as well as new projects, open up broad prospects for Ukraine to meet in full the needs in energy resources. According to experts, these three projects will give us the opportunity to produce 25-30 billion cubic meters of gas more on our own territory in the medium term," Stavytsky said.
The minister also expressed hope for an early acquisition of Ukraine's energy independence.
"Co-operation with international partners and increasing the volume of energy production will lead to the ultimate energy independence of our country," he said.
