Ukraine remains a member of a free trade area within the CIS and the Association Agreement can not somehow change this status, spokesman of the Foreign Ministry of Ukraine Yevhen Perebyinis announced.
"We do not see any reason for this agreement to somehow cease to have effect in relation to Ukraine, which signed the agreement, and ratified it in the Parliament," he added, commenting on the statement of the Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev that Ukraine will lose privileges in trade with Russia after signing the Association Agreement with the EU.
Ukraine is ready to discuss with Russia the issues arising in connection with the signing of the Association Agreement, including a trilateral format, with the involvement of the European Union.
"We pay attention to the warnings and the issues that arise from the Russian side. The Ukrainian leadership has repeatedly voiced its readiness for a detailed discussion of these issues," Perebyinis said.
