The energy industry is one of the key areas in cooperation between Ukraine and the EU, head of the EU Delegation to Ukraine Jan Tombinski told journalists during the official opening of the XI International Forum "Fuel and Energy Complex of Ukraine: Present and Future", ForUm correspondent reports.
"Accession to the Agreement on energy cooperation has given a new impetus to the strengthening of Ukraine's intention to join the common energy market and the implementation of obligations under the legislation of the European energy community," he said.
He stressed that the EU actively supports Ukraine's efforts regarding the implementation of the energy and environmental legislation. He noted that some important steps have already been made in the gas sector, "but the reform of the electricity sector is still ongoing and should lead to concrete results in the form of a new law on the wholesale energy market in the near future."
