President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych signed the Law № 582-VII “On approval of the decision of the President of Ukraine on the direction of the national contingent for the participation of Ukraine in the United Nations Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo", and the Law № 580-VII “On ratification of the Agreement (in the form of an exchange of letters) between Ukraine and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization on Ukraine's participation in Operation Ocean Shield. The press service of the President informs.
The first law provides for sending a national contingent numbering up to 300 military men for Ukraine's participation in the United Nations Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
"Operation Ocean Shield" provides that on September 24 - January 2, 2014 Ukrainian contingent will travel to participate in NATO operations against piracy "Ocean Shield", and on January 3 - March 5 will be taking part in the EU operation "Atalanta".
