Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov offers as soon as possible to hold a meeting of the intergovernmental Ukrainian-Indonesian commission on trade and economic cooperation, which has not met since 2009. The head of the Ukrainian government said this on Sept. 23 during a meeting with the speaker of the People's Assembly of the Republic of Indonesia Sidarto Danusubroto, the Cabinet’s press office informs.

"We have a great opportunity to enhance trade and economic relations, and so I would ask you to convey to the Government of Indonesia my offer as soon as possible to hold the meeting of the intergovernmental Ukrainian-Indonesian commission," Azarov said.

He stressed that Ukraine is a leader in the world in electromechanical engineering, manufacture of mining machinery, aerospace, agriculture and shipbuilding complex, so it would be mutually beneficial cooperation in these fields.

In addition, the Prime Minister offered to hold a joint business forum within the intergovernmental commission.

In turn, the speaker of the Indonesian Parliament expressed the hope that the meeting of the presidents of Ukraine and Indonesia will bring bilateral relations of countries to a new level.
"I hope that the meeting of the two presidents, to be held in February, will bring our bilateral relations to a new level," he said.

Danusubroto also suggested that a meeting of the intergovernmental commission will be held in December this year.

He stressed that Indonesia considers cooperation with Ukraine in the field of defense, tourism, food processing industry to be promising.
