Leader of the Party of Regions factions Oleksandr Yefremov doubts that today the Parliament will be able to set a date for the elections in the troubled constituencies, he told reporters on the Parliament’s sidelines, ForUm correspondent reports.

According to him, meeting of the faction leaders on this issue has not been held today and is not yet scheduled.

"Parliament is unlikely to consider this issue today, although there is still time. We are ready to vote for December 22," he said.

The MP explained why the elections should take place exactly one week before the New Year, not earlier. "The last plenary week, most likely, will be devoted to the adoption of the budget. And if to arrange elections before, it may affect consideration of the main sate documents," he said.

"Therefore, it would be logical to close the session and then go to the elections," he added.
