It is incorrect to speak about illegitimacy of yesterday's session of Kyiv council, chairman of the permanent committee on humanitarian policy Alla Shlapak told a press conference, ForUm correspondent reports.

"You'd better focus on those who violate the law norms and do not want to bear responsibility for consequences," she said.

The official underlined that during yesterday's session the deputies of Kyiv council considered important amendments to the budget, including salary raise for employees of state-funded organizations and allocation of 20 million hryvnias for purchasing of medicines (insulin, consumables for hemodialysis).

In turn, chairman of the permanent committee on housing and utilities services Yuri Bondar pointed out that legitimacy of the sessions was confirmed by two courts. "There are relevant articles of the Constitutions, which speak about authorities continuity and legitimacy of the elected body until a new composition of Kyiv council is elected. Both articles have been observed," he said.  

Bondar also added that the involvement of law enforcement forces into policing of the Kyiv council facilities during the session was fully justified. "If people gather into such big crowds, all possible measure of security must be take to prevent injuries, considering the emotional state of the society nowadays," he said.
