In 2013, 2.5 thousand Ukrainians have purchased immovables under affordable housing program, minister for regional development, construction and housing and public utilities Gennady Temnyk told a press conference, ForUm correspondent reports.

The minister also said that other 40 thousand Ukrainians have applied to take advantage of affordable housing government program.

Temnyk believes that there would be even more program participants if people legalized their income, and were more informed about the possibility to acquire living space with the support of the state.

The minister assured that the government will fulfill all financial obligations for compensation payments. "All compensation payments to be made in 2013 under program in 2012 provided to the full, and in fact every month, these funds are allocated, there is no delay in payments. All initiatives are supported and provided with financial resources and I do not see any risks of non-compliance both this and next year," he said.

Temnyk added that the draft program for the housing construction, which will be leased with option to buy under 3%, has been already sent for approval to the Economic Development Ministry for further submission to the credit and financial board. "This project is implemented within the framework of the economy development in 2013. After its approval at the credit and financial board, the Cabinet of Ministers will resolve the issue. I think it will be settled by the end of the year," he concluded.
