The Foreign Ministry of Ukraine is taking all measures to protect the rights and interests of Oleksandr Fedorovych, Ukrainian fisherman who survived after a collision with a motorboat with the Coast Guard of the Border Service of Russia in the Azov Sea on July 17, spokesman of the Foreign Ministry told ForUm correspondent.
"July 30, extraordinary Ukrainian-Russian consultations were held in Ukraine, during which the Russian party was proposed a joint investigation of the incident, as well as ensuring the return of the victim home, taking into account the humanitarian character of situation and the state of his health," interlocutor said.
The Foreign Ministry noted that in cooperation with the Embassy in the Russian Federation, as well as the Consulate General in Rostov-on-Don, consular support in a criminal case brought by the Russian side against the Ukrainian is provided.
According to the Ministry, yesterday, August 7, an employee of the Consulate General met with the Ukrainian and his lawyer, and held a conversation with the investigator.
The situation is under special control of the Foreign Minister and the Consulate General of Ukraine in Rostov-on-Don.
