Foreign minister of Ukraine Leonid Kozhara took part in the fourth meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the EU Member States and the countries of the "Eastern Partnership" in Brussels. The subject of discussion was the content of a future joint declaration of the Vilnius summit of "Eastern Partnership", the information policy department of the Foreign Ministry of Ukraine reports.
The main purpose of the meeting was to prepare for the Ministerial Summit of the "Eastern Partnership", scheduled for November 28-29 this year in Vilnius. The event was an exchange of views on the expected results of the summit, as well as the steps needed to ensure the maximum success of the event.
The meeting was held under the chairmanship of the Commissioner for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission Catherine Ashton and with the participation of the EU Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighbourhood Policy Stefan Fule. Ukrainian delegation was headed by foreign minister of Ukraine Leonid Kozhara.
During the meeting, Leonid Kozhara noted that the absolute priority of Ukraine remains signing of the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement at the Vilnius summit, as well as progress in the visa-free dialogue. The minister informed of the steps of Ukraine on the implementation of agreements of the EU-Ukraine Sixteenth Summit and noted the readiness of the Ukrainian party to continue active cooperation on all issues on the agenda of bilateral relations.
Ukraine is convinced that the third summit of "Eastern Partnership" in Vilnius will become an important step in the process of transformation and modernization of the European member countries of "Eastern Partnership", based on the association agreement. Particular attention of participants of the meeting was paid to priorities of development initiatives in the medium term.
The meeting participants agreed that preparations for the Vilnius summit should be in compliance with the principle of "common property", taking into account interests of all parties.
