Ukraine annually loses 1 billion EUR due to falling into the Ukrainian market of counterfeit and contraband products, head of the State Inspectorate for Consumer Protection Serhiy Orekhov told briefing "Government measures on prevention of entering the market of counterfeit and contraband products" in the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, ForUm correspondent reports.

He stressed that now the State Inspectorate is actively working to protect consumers from the risks of dangerous goods and substandard services.

In particular, the State Inspectorate for Consumer Protection banned entry into the Ukrainian market of contraband electrical products worth 110 thousand dollars. "This is the first case in Ukraine when the State Inspectorate and the Incomes and Fees ministry, due to the signed document for the development of a unified system of alerts, reacted on time, quickly and efficiently," he said.

He added that 885 points of sale of tobacco products were audited.

"Illegal products were detected in 262 cases," he said, adding that there were the goods, imported from the territories of other states with foreign excise stamps. In some cases, tobacco products were intended for duty-free sale. "Those products lacked tax stamps and health warnings," he informed.
