Grain prices will be stable in 2013, first vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Serhiy Arbuzov predicted, opening the Cabinet’s meeting, ForUm correspondent reports.

He stressed that problem of rising prices for grains remains in Ukraine from year to year.

In this regard, Arbuzov noted that one of the main tasks of the government is to stabilize grain prices. "We must do everything to prevent speculation in the agricultural market. Grain prices should be stable," he stated.

First vice Prime Minister specified that in the beginning of 2013, the Agrarian Fund purchased more than 1 million tons of wheat at the market price. Thus, he said, the government is able to control the situation with an increase in grain prices.

Arbuzov asked the agrarian policy and food minister Mykola Prysiazhniuk to speak at each meeting of the government with a report on the situation in the grain market.

He added that another task of the Agriculture Ministry will be increase in the number of combine harvesters up to 75 thousand units by the year-end.

Summing up, Arbuzov stressed that the Cabinet should touch upon state lending to agricultural sector at the next meeting.
