The Central Election Commission has to appoint repeated elections in the troubled constituencies, but it needs a law that will give the commission all grounds for making such decision, chairman of the Central Election Commission (CEC) Mykhailo Okhendovsky said in an exclusive interview with Interfax-Ukraine.

"The appointment of re-election is a prerogative of the CEC. We continue to expect a law from the Verkhovna Rada that will create grounds for the adoption of a corresponding decision," he said.

The head of the Central Election Commission did not answer a question concerning the fact that the Verkhovna Rada intended to appoint repeated elections in the 11th and 71st constituencies.

"My personal attitude has no practical importance to this issue. The appointment of elections requires two conditions: vacant parliamentary mandate in relevant constituency and legal grounds. In the presence of both of these conditions the elections will be appointed and held," Ohendovsky noted.
