Three foreigners (including two children) and five Ukrainians were killed as a result of a head-on collision of two passenger buses near the village of Volia-Liubytivska, Kovel district, Volyn region, the press service of Volyn regional prosecutor’s office reported.

According to their information, 30 people, including 22 Belarusians and eight Ukrainians, were hospitalized, Interfax informed.

Meanwhile, the regional police department said that two drivers (a Ukrainian and a Bulgarian), a thirteen-year-old Belarusian boy and five Ukrainian women were killed in the collision.

According to the police, 31 people were injured, 23 of them, including 16 teenagers, were taken to hospital.

According to the press service of Ukrainian deputy Prime Minister Oleksandr Vilkul, who is in Volyn region, 22 of the 31 injured are citizens of Belarus and nine are citizens of Ukraine. The condition of five of the injured is serious but stable. Two surgeries have been already conducted, three are being carried out.

The police said that passengers of the SETRA bus are members of a dancing group. The bus left Minsk around 2300 on July 10 and was driving all night. Early in the morning, it crossed the Ukrainian border.

Investigation has been launched into the accident on charges of violation of traffic rules, which ended up in fatalities, deputy prosecutor of Volyn region Valeriy Nevyrets said.
