Korean companies are satisfied with the cooperation with Ukraine in field of high technology and space research.

This was announced on July 8 by Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Ukraine in the Republic of Korea Kim Eun-Tszhun during the meeting with first deputy minister of economic development and trade Anatoly Maksiuta. The parties met to discuss the state and prospects of bilateral trade, economic and investment cooperation between Ukraine and the Republic of Korea.

"We have good cooperation in field of high technology and space. Korean companies are satisfied with the investment opportunities, because Ukraine is one of the biggest areas for investment," Kim Eun-Tszhun said.

He added that the first launch of Korean satellite at Ukrainian carrier rocket is scheduled for August 22.

In addition, the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea in Ukraine noted: "The Korean companies also plan to take part in the construction of the liquefied gas terminal in Odesa, high-speed trains’ production plant in Donetsk, subway construction in Dnipropetrovsk. These projects require billions of dollars of investment".

In 2012, despite the crisis in the global economy, the trade turnover between Ukraine and the Republic of Korea grew by 19% and amounted to 2.029 billion U.S. dollars.

"We welcome the increased Korean investment in our country, especially in areas, which Korea is traditionally strong in. It is, first of all, mechanical engineering and electronics. We are taking measures at the legislative level to improve conditions for investors, but also ready to provide assistance to specific investors, who want to work in Ukraine," first deputy minister of economic development and trade Anatoly Maksiuta said.

According to him, aviation, agriculture, housing, systems engineering, energy, transport infrastructure may be promising areas for Koreans to invest in, and they are also considered by the Government of Ukraine as priority ones.
