Presidents of Ukraine and Poland are preparing a joint statement on the 70th anniversary of the Volyn tragedy, which will be made public on the eve of the tragic date. This was stated by President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych at a joint press conference after the meeting of the presidents of the Visegrad Four and Ukraine in Wisla, the President’s press service informs.

"Our joint actions will be directed at the reconciliation of our people and, most importantly, will be at future generations," Yanukovych said.

The President considers important to involve in this work not only government officials, but also representatives of the Church.

In turn, the President of Poland Bronislaw Komorowski said he intends to attend the event on honoring the victims of the Volyn tragedy, "to support the shared experience of this painful anniversary".

"I talked with Viktor Yanukovych, he has objective obstacles, which prevent him from being in Lutsk on this date. However, I was assured that the Ukrainian state will be represented at the appropriate level," he said.
