The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted in the first reading the government's draft law on public television and radio broadcasting. 353 MPs voted for the bill, ForUm correspondent reports.
"Public television will consist of two channels: socio-political and cultural-educational ones. Public radio will also consist of two such channels. The main task of public broadcasting in Ukraine will be objective, complete and timely rendering information to citizens of Ukraine on the most important socio-political and economic developments in the country and abroad," head of the State Committee for Television and Radio Broadcasting Oleksandr Kurdynovych said.
It is worth noting that this bill is needed for further European integration of Ukraine.
