A third person involved in the high-profile rape and beating of a woman in the village of Vradiyivka in Mykolaiv region, police captain Yevhen Dryzhak, has been detained Tuesday, the Prosecutor's Office in Mykolaiv region told Ukrinform.

The prosecutors added that now there is no other evidence against Yevhen Dryzhak than the words of the victim. However, taking into account mass protests in Vradiyivka, which have lasted for the second day in a row, he was detained.

As reported, 29-year-old raped and battered Iryna Krashkova was found by villagers on June 27. The woman said she was attacked by two local police officers and a forest ranger. Earlier, police detained two suspects in this high-profile crime: forest ranger Serhiy Riabinenko and senior lieutenant of the local police district department Dmytro Polishchuk.
