Signing of the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement will have the least impact on metallurgical and chemical industries, research director of the Institute for Economic Research and Policy Consulting Veronika Movchan said, ForUm correspondent reports.

"The metallurgical industry will not benefit much from the signing of this Agreement, the impact on this sector of the economy will be neutral. Minor changes will be also in chemical industry,” she said.

Expert added that signing of the Agreement will extend the opportunity of cooperation between Ukraine and the EU in the mining and metallurgical complex, and give an opportunity to compensate for the rise in prices of raw materials in connection with the liquidation of export taxes by using an additional fee.

Movchan also noted that association with the EU will influence more positively agro-industrial complex, as the industry provides for the establishment of zero import duties on the import of Ukrainian products to the EU.

In addition, the agreement expands the cooperation between Ukraine and the EU in the development of rural areas.

According to Movchan, Ukrainian machine-building will also enjoy positive changes, in particular through the harmonization of technical barriers in trade. "This will help to raise prices for the products of mechanical engineering, but on the other hand it will provide a significant level of safety of these products," she noted.

The expert also noted that the agreement provides for special protective measures for motor-car construction, which would protect this sector of the economy from the growth of imports during 10-15 years and help to maintain the level of import tariffs.
