Beginning of summer season in Ukraine gives rise to cases of acute intestinal infections, deputy chairman of the State Sanitary and Epidemiological Service of Ukraine Oleksandr Kravchuk told a briefing, ForUm correspondent reports.

"During April-June, there were 14 outbreaks of acute intestinal infections in Ukraine, which affected 221 people, 101 children including," he informed.

Kravchuk noted that the State Sanitary and Epidemiological Service has taken a series of anti-epidemic measures in order to eliminate outbreaks. "It is established that the main causative agents of outbreaks were salmonella enteridis and rotaviruses," he said.

The expert added that the cause of outbreaks were non-compliance with sanitation norms.
