Holding of the meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Jewish Agency "Sochnut" demonstrates high dynamics of Ukrainian-Israeli relations, President Yanukovych stressed, the press service of the head of state reported.
“Holding of this meeting in Kyiv is the evidence of high dynamics of Ukrainian-Israeli relations,” the head of state noted at the meeting with the members of the Board of Trustees of the Jewish Agency "Sochnut".
He reminded that Ukraine has the fourth largest community of Jews and friendly relations between the two countries have ancient roots.
“We are pleased that the given forum is held in Ukraine. I hope it will positively influence Ukrainian-Israeli relations,” the head of state emphasized.
In his turn, Head of the Jewish Agency "Sochnut" Natan Sharansky said that offsite meetings of the Board of Trustees was held rarely but the Agency had made an exception for Ukraine given the role of Ukrainian Jewish community in the world.
“Ukrainian Jewish community is very important in historic sense and in the sense of connection with Israel,” he noted.
Natan Sharansky positively evaluated life of Jews in Ukraine. “We are glad that projects related to the Jewish schools, camps for children and many other aspects of Jewish life are being developed,” he stressed.
