MP from the Party of Regions Volodymyr Oliynyk believes that the most appropriate way to manage the Ukrainian gas transportation system is the creation of a trilateral gas transportation consortium with the participation of Ukraine, Russia and the European Union, he said in Moscow on Tuesday, on the sidelines of the international scientific conference on the situation in and prospects for the Russian-Ukrainian relations, Ukrinform reported.
"The most appropriate way is the creation of an international consortium with the participation of Ukraine, Russia and the European Union. This way takes into account the interests of the three parties. Russia is interested in safe from the political and technical point of view routes for the supply of gas to its customers in Europe, and Ukraine needs an update of its gas transport system. The European Union, in turn, receives predictable and stable partners. But our proposals on an international consortium do not meet with support in your (Russian - Ed.) capital," Oliynyk said.
