Ukraine is likely to become the country chairing the CIS in 2014, head of the CIS Executive Committee Serhiy Lebedev told reporters in Minsk on Tuesday.
"Ukraine has expressed its wish to take the presidency in 2014. I know that the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has already started working in this direction," Lebedev said.
"I am sure that most of the CIS states will support the desire of Ukraine. The CIS Executive Committee will support all departments of Ukraine in preparation for the chairmanship," he added.
