Kyiv City Council will be legitimate after June 2, head of the Kyiv City State Administration Oleksandr Popov told journalists today.
“Kyiv City Council is legitimate until the election of a new convocation (of the city council), and the Constitutional Court confirmed this in its ruling,” Popov stated.
He also said that it was necessary to execute, rather than comment on court rulings, Interfax-Ukraine informs.
“I cannot comment on the decision of the Constitutional Court. Court decisions must be executed. In any case, the Verkhovna Rada should make a decision, and I’m sure that it will make it, based on the decision of the Constitutional Court,” Popov said.
However, he again said that he was ready for the elections and was confident of his victory in them.
As reported, on Thursday, May 30, the Constitutional Court announced its ruling of May 29, according to which the next elections of deputies for Kyiv City Council and Kyiv mayor are to be held in 2015.
