In 2013, the number of juvenile delinquents decreased by half, compared to the same period in 2012, head of the criminal police department for children affairs of Ukraine Oleksiy Lazarenko told a briefing, ForUm correspondent reports.

"Number of juvenile delinquents decreased from 4.146 children over the same period last year to 2.580 such children this year. Of these, about 1.100 delinquents are school students, 544 - vocational school students, and 401 teenagers, who do neither study, nor work," he noted.
The number of criminal offenses, according to Lazarenko, reduced by 38.

"The number of children, who commit crimes repeatedly (when a minor was not convicted for a first offense - Ed.) and repetition of crimes (when a minor commits offense during the period when the conviction has not been removed from official records- Ed.) has also decreased. For the same period in 2012, 1077 minors repeated offenses, while in 2013 this figure is 577 people," Lazarenko added.
