Russian President Vladimir Putin met with Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych in Sochi on Sunday.

“I am happy to see you here and have a chance to discuss bilateral relations, trade and economic ties, as well as our cooperation in the Commonwealth of Independent States in an informal setting,” Putin said.

“Traditionally, our relations have been broad, covering political contacts, economic ties and humanitarian interaction. We have much to discuss, as usual. Thank you for accepting the invitation and for finding time to come here on your day-off. I am very glad indeed to see you,” he said.

In turn, Yanukovych stressed that the Russian-Ukrainian relations have a lot to discuss. "We have issues to talk about. All matters relating to our bilateral relations cause a deep interest in Ukraine and in Russia," he noted.
