This year, the State Agency for Automobile Roads will have to abandon large-scale construction of new highways, Prime Minister Mykola Azarov said during the Cabinet’s meeting, ForUm correspondent reports.
"Instead, we have to complete overhaul and current repair of roads by winter. Only in this case we get the opportunity to begin implementing an ambitious program of road construction next year, due to which transport corridors of European quality will combine all the administrative centers of the country," the head of government said.
He informed that the Cabinet approved the list of sites for reconstruction and repair of the current year. In particular, there will be repaired sections of roads Kyiv-Kharkiv-Dovzhansky, Kyiv-Chop, Kherson-Dzhankoi-Simferopol, Vinnytsia-Uman-Znamianka, Znamianka-Dnipropetrovsk, Dnipropetrovsk-Donetsk-Luhansk, Zhytomyr-Chernivtsi.
"Preparatory work on repairing Kyiv-Odesa road is started. We held tender, obtained an agreement from the World Bank, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the European Investment Bank on raising funds," the Prime Minister said.
