Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has named the construction of perinatal centers and improving emergency medical services as being among the country’s priorities, he said during the ceremony to open a road junction in Sevastopol, when speaking about social problems in Ukraine.

The President said that Sevastopol had recently implemented several major projects aimed at solving social problems of the city. In particular, a new building for city hospital No. 1 and a perinatal center were built.

According to Yanukovych, although the emergency medicine still leaves much to be desired, Sevastopol has made a significant progress in this area, Interfax-Ukraine reports.

“We will continue to improve emergency medical services, which is also our priority,” he added.
The President promised that special attention would be paid in Sevastopol to the problems related to cardiovascular diseases and cancer.
