Ukrainian foreign minister Leonid Kozhara will visit the United States on May 6-9, acting director of the press service of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry Yevhen Perebyinis said.

In New York, Kozhara will meet with UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, as well as holding a briefing at the UN Security Council and meeting with adopted Ukrainian children and their adoptive parents.

In addition, on May 8, the foreign minister will meet in Washington with U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry.

Kozhara will also participate in a hearing of the U.S. Helsinki Commission on the priority issues of Ukraine’s chairmanship of the OSCE and meet with members of the U.S. Congress, representatives of the business community and the Ukrainian diaspora, Interfax-Ukraine reports.

“The minister will also meet with relevant U.S. agencies, including representatives of the U.S. National Park Service, in order to discuss the construction in Washington of the monument to victims of the Holodomor of 1932-1933 in Ukraine,” Perebyinis said.

In addition, Kozhara is also to speak at a round table organized by the National Democratic Institute and meet with the president of the institute, former U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine Albright.
