The government approved quotas, providing for cultivation of plants, containing narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, their production, manufacture, possession, import into the territory of Ukraine and export from the territory of Ukraine in 2013, the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers informs.

The relevant resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers was adopted on April 29, 2013.

The document is directed at improving measures to control the spread and prevent leaks in illicit trafficking of medicines, containing narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances. The needs of health care institutions and business entities were taken into account while forming the quotas.

Thus, in 2013 the cultivation of opium poppy is allowed on 650 hectares, the Cannabis plants – on 2.723 hectares. In addition, quotas are determined on 29 positions, which define production, manufacture, possession, import into the territory of Ukraine and export of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances.
