Ukraine and Turkey are planning to sign an agreement on free trade area before 2014, the press service of the Economic Development and Trade Ministry reported.

According to the report, economic development and trade minister Ihor Prasolov took part in the Turkish-Arab forum, during which he stressed that Ukraine and Turkey are planning to sign an agreement on free trade area in 2013.

The minister is sure that the agreement will promote diversification of the trade structure, activation of full range of business activities and will prevent the occurrence of any economic or bureaucratic obstacles in relations between the countries.

He stressed that as of today, Turkey is actually the second trading partner of Ukraine in the Black Sea basin after Russia.

In 2012, the turnover of trade in goods and services between Ukraine and Turkey increased by 8.3% and amounted to 6.150 billion USD, which is by 469.5 million more than in 2011.

In this case, the balance of trade in goods and services was positive and amounted to 1.5937 billion dollars in 2012 and 2011.

In addition, the Turkish investments have increased since January 1, 2012, and they amounted to 106.4 million dollars.
